Almacén San Francisco was born in 1986 initially as a lumber warehouse in the beautiful area of Guápiles, at that time there was very little trade in the place, that need and the desire to emerge of its founders gave rise to start with the sale of wood. As with any new venture, economic difficulties were present at the beginning, however, with a lot of effort, honest work and dedication, little by little and with the passing of time, not only wood but also more articles for construction were obtained.
The eagerness to meet the needs of customers and provide good service generated the need for expansion, that is to buy land around in the area where they are now with the help of the National Bank, purchases and expansion was done gradually to reach the size that the company has now.
One of the first big steps of the company was the expansion outside the area of Guápiles. Approximately in the year 1999, one of the brothers visited the area of Bribrí, Talamanca, a town in incipient development and with a great need of commerce; there the opening took place with the whole line of materials and with what the good clients were requesting. At the present time they handle lines from hardware to spare parts for cars and chainsaws.
After branch two, we proceeded to open a third business in 2005 located in Puerto Viejo de Limón focused more on the needs of foreigners living in the area, then in 2016 we opened the branch located in Cariarí, Pococí.
One of the most difficult moments that the company has gone through occurred on January 3, 2018 when a fire during the night hours consumed the entire headquarters, the first branch of the now Grupo Almacenes San Francisco. Difficult situation from which it resurfaced thanks to the support of all customers, friends, business partners and of course the banking entity that reached out to the company to rebuild the branch again.
On November 24, 2018, the current branch Almacenes San Francisco #1 was reopened, which also houses the central departments and the company's product warehouse.
